Ils sont en route pendant des semaines et vivent confin\u00e9s dans leur cabine. Ou comme l&rsquo;exprime un de ces chauffeurs : \u00ab Vous voulez faire l&rsquo;exp\u00e9rience d&rsquo;une vie en cabine ? Alors, enfermez-vous dans votre salle de bain et travaillez-y pendant toute une journ\u00e9e. Puis passez-y encore votre temps libre et vos nuits. Cuisinez vos repas sur un r\u00e9chaud \u00e0 gaz devant la porte de votre salle de bain. C&rsquo;est la raison pour laquelle, sur les routes europ\u00e9ennes occidentales, dont celle du Gothard, circulent de nombreux conducteurs d&rsquo;Europe de l&rsquo;Est qui travaillent pour les salaires pratiqu\u00e9s en Europe orientale (voir encadr\u00e9 1).
